Why?
Why not?
I don't really have a good answer.

Next comes a CAD model textured with the SolidWorks sand preset. I tinted it a little brown.

Straight curves and swamp cooler |
Three flat rectangles can approximate a curve!
My second backing attempt rendered structurally sound gingerbread sheets. These were cut on the laser.

What a waste of technology |
Nobody actually eats gingerbread houses right?
No?
Sweet! Hot glue 'dries' way faster than frosting!
Turns out hot glue works only OK; it holds fast but tends to rip the top layer of cookie off.

Blasphemy |
Problem:
The CAD model assumed a 3/16 inch thick cookie, but in reality it was 1/4 inch. A few of the pieces need to be trimmed down.

Too wide |
Another problem with hot glue is it covers your Christmas decoration in faux spiderwebs.

This isn't Halloween damnit! |
Royal icing was used to reinforce the trailer and hide the spiderwebs.
Turns out I have no idea how to decorate a gingerbread house. I realized this about halfway through decorating a gingerbread house.

Gross candy! |
This little trailer park may actually have benefited from my inferior exterior decorating skills.
Results
More effort was put into lighting the trailer than building it.

Conclusion
Unsurprisingly, gingerbread cuts well on the laser. What did surprise me was the smell this thing imparted on food in my refrigerator.... Everything has absorbed this burnt gingerbread smell/taste; especially the butter.
Next up: Laser cut Easter eggs!!!
just kidding, maybe
The End
That's it. Get off my lawn.
Lots of love bruddah! Keep being awesome
ReplyDeleteWeldone ! I have a question, a little bit off-topic but, did you build your own laser? Do you have more information about it?
